Brittany Andrews Spitkickers Interview
I met adult film star Brittany Andrews in her suite at a swank Upper East Side hotel. Brittany opened the door and looked stunning in a mini skirt, high-heeled leather boots and a very tight see-through shirt. She was in New York on business though, and that is what she really wanted to talk about. She was there for the week to meet with investors, and shoot behind-the-scenes footage for a music video for the band Elements of Soul.
Brittany began entertaining as a dancer in Milwaukee at the age of seventeen but left Wisconsin soon after learning that the girls in porn made the most money. After arriving in Los Angeles, she was mentored by porn queen Jenna Jameson. However, instead of taking every job that came her way and making the rookie requisite 100 to 150 movies, Brittany was extremely selective about her projects. Her desire to control her career would eventually lead to making her own films. In the late 90s she opened her film studio, Britco Pictures, and she now directs, produces, and stars in ten to fifteen movies a year.
She took a break from making movies in 1998 because of an AIDS scare in the industry. I asked her if she ever said no to working with certain porn stars. “It’s rare that I say yes. I’d never f*@k Ron Jeremy.” She has worked on projects like “Baywatch,” but she insists that her first love is porn. “I’m no actress, just a pornstar,” she said, laughing.
“Just a pornstar” doesn’t seem accurate. Britco Pictures is a 5000-square-foot studio in downtown Los Angeles with a full post-production facility and a state-of-the-art purple dungeon, complete with whipping post and bondage gynecological table. Brittany complained that the porn industry doesn’t understand what women want. Porno movies geared towards women always involve candles and bathtubs. “Candles do not turn me on,” she said. What does turn Brittany on? It’s too explicit to write but I can say that there is no romance involved.
Our initial meeting was two years ago at a trendy studio on Manhattan’s West Side. Brittany waited patiently for a high fashion magazine to finish its shoot so she could start hers. Without a stitch of makeup that day she still looked incredible. She was very chatty and put everyone at ease right away, peppering every few sentences with raunchy comments, which the boys at the studio loved.
A few friends of the photography staff showed up to lend their “support,” but Brittany undressed with no concern about who was around. We were all privileged to see her naked in person. She alluded to her wild nightlife a few times, but her skin is great and she is in perfect shape. Brittany sipped a glass of red wine as she had her hair done. She instructed the hairstylist to tease it a little more and reminded her that “I’m a porn star you know, I need porn star hair.” While she was in the chair I learned a little more about her life. She lost her virginity at age thirteen in a “who’s going to lose theirs first” contest with some friends. Brittany came in second. She does charity work on Christmas day and has traveled all over the world. In Africa she posed naked with every exotic animal possible but she wouldn’t tell me the craziest thing she’s ever done off camera because it’s just too disgusting.
At her hotel, the doorbell rang. It was the guys from Elements of Soul accompanied by a camera, and lighting equipment. As they set up for the shoot I wondered if I should stick around and watch the action, but I decided to head home. I think I’ll stick with bathtubs and candles.
