BRITTANY ANDREWS CREDIT SHEET
Behind the piercing blue eyes and pouty lips, lies Brittany Andrews’ most fascinating feature: the shrewd mind of a career businesswoman.
Called one of the top three females in the adult industry by Entertainment Tonight, Cosmopolitan and Playboy Magazine, Brittany Andrews is a consummate professional, having mastered all aspects of the porn game. From feature dancer to porn star, from director to host, producer to activist, Brittany is hardcore’s first jill-of-all-trades.
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Brittany struggled to escape a troubled youth and make her mark in the world. At a young age she dropped out of school and left her home for good. Brittany became a feature dancer, traveling all over the world and living in such exotic ports of call as Guam and Tokyo, Japan.
Returning to the States, Brittany began booking photo shoots for big name adult magazines, equally enjoying the work, the money and the chance to explore her own sexuality. One photo shoot had her jet down to Spring Break in Jamaica, where she met and befriended adult superstar Jenna Jameson. Brittany knew that the transition from dancing to video work was the next step to take in order to build herself as a brand and take a shot at stardom. Jenna took an instant liking to Brittany and was instrumental in getting Miss Andrews well-crafted foot in the door of the adult video world.
Within weeks after her first shoot, Brittany’s phone was ringing off the hook with offers of photo and video shoots, as well as offers to become a contract performer to several of the biggest adult companies. Bucking the contract girl system, Brittany was determined to establish herself as a stand-alone star.
With that goal in mind, Brittany began to use television, magazines, radio, in-store appearances and feature dancing stints to embrace the widest possible audience and spread her message of liberated sensuality and her stylish brand of erotica.
Three short months after breaking in to the adult video world, Brittany accepted an offer to guest host the adult-oriented newsmagazine Talking Blue. The day after she shot the show, the producers fired the regular host and offered Brittany the job, which she happily accepted.
In the course of her duties as host, Brittany worked on developing and revamping the entire show. To insure a high-quality product, she became increasingly involved in the off screen aspects of production, hiring and coordinating her own crew, pitching segments and even directing episodes. The hard work was rewarded in the form of co- producer and several Cable Ace Awards and a growing sense that she could handle any challenges the industry had to offer.
Over the years, Brittany has produced and starred in several talk/variety shows, including Talking Blue and ATV. Her most recent clips are available at www.BrittanyShow.com.
With her newfound skills behind a camera, Brittany made a wise investment in herself and opened her own production company, BritCo Pictures. BritCo Pictures currently boasts an impressive state-of-the-art facility in downtown Los Angeles, featuring a high-tech dungeon, plenty of studio space and even its own Avid post-production operation, Cave Post.
BritCo is currently releasing 5 dvd series, among them Brittany’s Exquisite Feet line and her best-selling and controversial series Brittany’s Bitch Boyz.
Brittany’s performances and directorial efforts have also received industry accolades. She has been nominated for AVN Awards for Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress and Best Director – Fetish. Additionally, the Los Angeles Daily News and the Los Angeles Times recently lauded Brittany for her condoms-only policy for BritCo releases. Brittany has been a condom-only performer for all nine of her years in the business, starting at a time when the idea of a top name star practicing safe sex only was unheard of.
Attacking the porn world on two fronts, Brittany embraced emerging technologies like the Internet before most, and was one of the first people to realize the enormous potential of niche marketing in a successful online presence. She now owns and runs the Niche Bitch Network, an award-winning series of websites that run the niche gamut from Asian to black to gay to fetish and have brought her traffic in the amount of two million unique visitors per month.
In addition to her aggressive niche-based business plan, Brittany also credits branding and top-notch customer service for her online successes. Brittany’s online presence maintains a constant flow of fresh content and personal commentary. She interacts with her fans on her message boards and news page, continuously updating them on her activities and plans. Her communications with her fans are the backbone of her marketing research, enabling her to stay several steps ahead of competitors.
Always eager to stay at the forefront of new technologies, Brittany recently inked a deal with Japanese wireless giant I-mode to create content specifically for their wireless customers. As part of the deal, Brittany will also act as a content aggregator for I-mode, finding fresh content and catalog items for their online sales division.
Brittany has been at the forefront of the crossover between the worlds of porn, music and fashion. Her many music video/photo credits include a George Michaels video, a KISS album cover, a Sir Mix-a- Lot video, an Elements of Soul video and appearances on The Howard Stern Show alongside Marilyn Manson and Ozzy Osbourne.
The fashion world has embraced Brittany as well, making one of the only adult film stars to ever walk the red carpet for such luminaries as Dolce & Gabana, Versace and Christian Dior. She has modeled for David LaChappelle and Terry Richardson. A recent New York Daily News piece, contrasting porn star fashion with that of socialites, named Brittany as the best dressed woman in porn.
Politics has long been a love of Brittany’s. She appeared on both The O’Reilly Factor and Dateline NBC to express her views on the recently overturned lap-dancing ban in Los Angeles. She cause an enormous stir in the United Kingdom on Channel 5 and the BBC when one of her movies, Making Whoopee, resulted in a court case which ultimately led to the legalizing of porn distribution in the U.K.
Women in Adult (www.womeninadult.com) recently named Brittany to their board of directors as talent liason. The WIA is an organization that supports and empowers business women in the adult industry, working to advocate change and are committed to fostering a stronger network and community among professional women in the industry.
Brittany is a proud member of the Free Speech Coalition and also works with ASACP, Adult Sites Against Child Pornography, which works closely with the F.B.I. to fight the growing amount of child pornography in cyberspace.
On another political front, Brittany has teamed up with the Free Speech Coalition, the Association of Club Executives (ACE) and the ACLU to work an action center at the upcoming Adult Entertainment Expo promoting the SAFE Act, legislation intended to combat some of the failings of the far to wide-reaching PATRIOT Act. Attendees will have access to computers and fax machines from which they can contact their representatives and urge them to support the SAFE Act.
Brittany has also helped raise awareness and garner signatures for the ACLU’s defense of Sherri Williams and her adult boutique Pleasures, as the State of Alabama tries to restrict the rights of consenting adults to pur chase adult sexual aids and toys.
Brittany has also been extensively involved in charity work, most recently when she organized a huge content trade photo and video shoot at BritCo Pictures. The content will be released on DVD and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the families of two adult industry models. One of the models, Taylor Summer was tragically killed after a photo shoot in Pennsylvania earlier this year. The other model, Shannon Getsit, was a relative newcomer who was terribly injured in a household accident and uninsured at the time.
Among the other charitable works she enjoys, Brittany has donated time and money to such varied groups as Children of the Night (www.childrenofthenight.org), Para Los Niños (www.paralosninos.org), the L.A. Mission (www.losangelesmission.org) and Beyond Shelter (www.beyondshelter.org). Brittany has also done extensive hosting and promotions for AIM Health Care (www.aim-med.org), the adult industry’s leading HIV prevention and awareness resource.
On the medical front, Brittany has been very active with promoting safe and sane sexuality and speaking up about women’s sexual issues. Upon hearing that almost 43% of women experience some sort of sexual dysfunction, Miss Brittany began working on a plan to bring women into touch with their sexual needs and methods of finding satisfaction. She was a guest on Time Warner’s Dr. Hayer Show, addressing the topic of female vaginal orgasms. Her work as a female sexologist has led to countless speaking engagements and presentations, as well as thousands of happy women.
In spite of all her success, Miss Andrews is still a remarkably down-to-earth person. She is widely known for her approachability as well as her sense of humor, which led trade journal Adult Video News to label her “the funniest woman in porn.” Brittany is always quick with a joke and is a natural-born storyteller. Brittany has even had a series of appearances at the Hollywood Improv where she’s been honing her skills as a stand-up comic.
Considering the amazing journey Brittany has undertaken over the last decade, it’s no wonder so many insiders consider her a bellwether for the adult industry’s future progress and success.
